wen wundert es, wenn es sich mal wieder bestätigt,
die Polizei ist nicht die Lösung mancher Probleme, sie ist das Problem.

1000 gestohlende Autos befinden sich im Privatbesitz von th. Polizeioffizieren.
Dies wird nicht als Teilnahme an organisierter Kriminalität verstanden, sondern als eine berechtigte Einziehung des 10., des einem zustehenden.

Als Gütevorschlag kam nun der Gedanke auf, die geschädigten Leasingfirmen mit den neuen Besitzern zusammen zu bringen, in der Hoffnung einer gemeinsamen Lösung,
doch hier gilt wohl eher,

die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt.

Police behind over 1000 missing cars

Deputy metropolitan police commissioner Jutti Thammathowanich admitted yesterday that most of the cars missing in the car-hire scam are in the hands of police officers.


Pol Maj-Gen Jutti, who earlier headed the investigation into the racket, made the allegation after being removed as chief investigator by deputy national police chief Thani Somboonsap.


His role has now been limited to just retrieving the missing cars and returning them to their rightful owners.


The number of cars missing in the racket now stands at more than 1,200 vehicles countrywide. In Bangkok alone, complaints have been received about 950 cars going missing.


Three police officers have allegedly been implicated in the scandal so far.


Pol Gen Thani has appointed deputy metropolitan police commissioner Pol Maj-Gen Wiboon Bangthamai as Pol Maj-Gen Jutti's replacement.


Pol Maj-Gen Jutti claimed that he urged the officers in possession of the missing vehicles to return them, but his requests fell on deaf ears.


''Police cannot deny they have no idea about the missing cars,'' he said.


Pol Maj-Gen Jutti will pursue legal action against the officers found involved in the scandal. Their commanders will be asked to dismiss them from the force if the allegations are proved.


Last month a police officer was seen opening a stolen van parked at the police headquarters. The officer first lied that the van did not belong to him, but later admitted he rented it from another policeman. He said he needed to lie for fear of being linked to the racket.


The gang deceived people to buy new cars and rent them out through car rental companies, which promised them high rental fees.


But the victims lost their cars and never got to see the money they had been promised.
